Once you have selected an external funding opportunity that fits your academic interest and needs, we provide one-on-one assistance with the entire process, from application to submission:
- determining eligibility
- navigating the submission process
- coordinating with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs
- developing budgets for research-related funding
- strategically crafting written materials
- formatting, revising, editing, and proofreading documents

Meet Dr. Hilkovitz!
Andrea Hilkovitz, Ph.D. is The Graduate College's External Funding Coordinator. Dr. Hilkovitz, who graduated with both her M.A. and Ph.D from The University of Texas at Austin in comparative literature, came to Texas State from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she taught professional, technical, and grant writing as a tenure-track faculty member in the English Department. She has a strong track-record in securing external funding and has mentored students successfully in grantsmanship. Dr. Hilkovitz herself received a dissertation fellowship from the Austin branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW). She looks forward to using her grant-writing expertise to help you find and apply for external funding to support your studies and research!
