Shop Talk: Know Your WORTH: Salary Negotiation Techniques for Women
Know Your WORTH (Women Offering Resources, Truth, and Heart)
Negotiating one’s salary is an important skill that will come in handy throughout your professional career when it comes to ensuring that you are getting paid what you are worth! However, these conversations can be an unfamiliar and uncomfortable topic for professionals at any level. Negotiation is a skill, and like any skill, it takes practice. According to the American Association for University Women (AAUW), women working full time in the United States are paid 80 percent of what white, non-Hispanic men are paid – a gap of 20 percent. If we are going to lessen the salary gap, we have to take actionable steps!
This is a Start Smart Workshop by the American Association for University Women.
Thursday, April 2 | 4:30 – 6 p.m.
Alkek Library, Room 442
