Welcome to the graduate community at Texas State!

New Graduate Student Orientation (NGSO) is designed to set you up for success by providing you with helpful information and resources to enhance your academic experience at Texas State!

NGSO is a 2-part experience. The first part is a Canvas course with online resources and videos to help you succeed in grad school. The second part is a meet and greet social event that you can attend in-person at the San Marcos or Round Rock campus.

NGSO: Canvas
The Canvas course* is live! This course provides a variety of tools and information to help you succeed right from the start. This information is designed to help you get comfortable with:

  • the culture and expectations of graduate school, including advice from graduate faculty
  • the San Marcos and Round Rock area
  • how to get started
  • making connections; getting support when you need it and building community

*Please note NGSO: Canvas is a guiding resource; you will not receive academic course credit for completing the course.
