Preparing for the 3MT® competition helped me to be able to concisely explain to just about anyone what my research was about and why it was important, which is a skill that I've used many times since graduating. In addition, participating made me feel less nervous about my dissertation defense and improved my overall public speaking skills. — Rain Nox, 2015 Runner-up
