Xuelian Meng, Geographic Information Science, paper entitled “Morphology-based Building Detection form Airborne Lidar Data” will receive the 2008 BAE Systems Award for best student paper presented by the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at the ASPRS 2008 Annual Conference in Portland, OR held in May. The paper will also be published in the Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing (PE&RS), the official journal of ASPRS. Her advisor is Dr. Nate Currit. Co-authors of the paper are Dr. Currit and former college, Dr. Le Wang.

The grant is intended to fund the research for his master's thesis, which is a survey of the assessment methods used in public schools for the diagnosis of pervasive developmental disorders in children.
