International Eligibility

What is an international status?

International is defined as all applicants who will be studying under an immigrant or non-traditional visa type including, but not limited to, the following visa types:

  • F-1/F-2 student visa
  • J-1/J-2: exchange visitor visa
  • H-4/H1-B: specialty occupation visa

How do you determine equivalency of Bachelor's and Master's degree?

  • All Master’s level applicants must have completed a four (4) year Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
  • All Doctoral level applicants must have completed a two (2) year Master’s degree from an accredited institution (unless otherwise noted on the Program Requirements page).

What is the required Grade Point Average (GPA)?

All applicants must submit transcripts showing a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 hours of undergraduate courses before earning a Bachelor’s degree (some programs may require higher GPAs – review the Program Requirements website).

The fee can be paid within the ApplyTexas application. If submitting payment after completing the ApplyTexas application, please visit our secure portal TouchNet to pay online or mail a check/money order to the address above. Please visit Application & Fees for more information.


Submit official transcripts

Officials transcritps should be requested to be sent by your university in a sealed envelope to the address listed above. Please visit Required Documents for more information.


Submit official IELTS/TOEFL scores for English Proficiency Requirement

The TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for admission consideration. Please request from the testing center to send to Texas State with the code 006667. Please visit English Language Proficiency for more information.



Submit official GRE/GMAT scores (if required)

To determine if your program requires the GRE or GMAT, please visit your Program Requirements web page. If the program requires official GRE or GMAT scores for their requirements, please request from the testing center to send to Texas State with the code 006667.
