On September 17th, Running With the Graduate Deans participated in the Country Roads 10k, organized by the San Marcos Running Club. This was the first race for the Fall 2016 semester – and it looks like the group is off to a great start! A total of 13 individuals, comprised of deans, faculty, students, and staff participated in the race, either as runners or volunteers. Despite the steamy temperatures on race day (even at 8 a.m.!), several runners won awards for their respective age groups, and others set personal distance records as this race was their very first 10k – congratulations to all on these accomplishments! Volunteers staffed a table with coffee, fruit, and energy bars and cheered the runners on. All in all, the group raised $325 for graduate scholarships and enjoyed spending time together outside the classroom and office! Congratulations to all the runners on a race well run and a big thanks to all of our supporters! We are already looking forward to our next event, the Homecoming 5k on campus, all runners and walkers are invited to join us. Until then, follow us on Facebook.
