Texas State Certificate

DEADLINES

The Graduate College will continue to process applications received after the deadline. Applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with no guarantees for admission for those who apply after the deadline.

If you already have at least a baccalaureate degree, you may enroll through the Graduate College as a “Post-Graduate” to pursue a Texas State Certificate. A post-graduate student is not pursuing a graduate degree. Courses taken will be shown as Post-Graduate Degree Credit on your transcript. Should you decide to apply to a graduate degree program, up to six hours of graduate-level courses, with a grade of “B” or better, may be petitioned for degree credit after regular degree-seeking admission has been granted. To be admitted as a Texas State Certificate Student, you must meet the minimum admission requirements as listed below plus any specific departmental admission requirements. IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all certificate programs are eligible for financial aid. To apply for admission under this status, you must:

Complete an Application for Admission to the Graduate College and return it to the Office of the Graduate College:
- You may now apply online through the ApplyTexas Application. Please allow 2 working days for the application to be received by Texas State.
- Paper Applications: Application for Admission (PDF) OR INTERNATIONAL Application for Admission (PDF).
Submit a non-refundable $10.00 application fee (check or money order) made payable to Texas State. A $50.00 (U.S. currency) international/evaluation fee is required if the application is considered for admission based on foreign credentials.
Submit one official transcript from each senior level post-secondary institution attended. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the university or college attended or submitted in a sealed university envelope with the university's registrar's signature on the back of the envelope. Texas State transcripts will be supplied. Applicants must have a 2.5* GPA on the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work before the bachelor’s degree. If a student has completed a master’s or doctoral degree, a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is required. (Some certificate programs have higher minimum GPA requirements.)

*Minimum GPA for most certificate programs; some programs have higher requirements.

Texas State Certificate Program Application of Completion:
Upon completion of certificate course requirements, you must submit a Texas State Certificate Program Application of Completion. The Graduate College will confirm with the Graduate Advisor that the requirements have been met. The Graduate College will then contact the Registrar’s Office to request the transcript notation and printing of the certificate. The Registrar’s Office will send the certificate to the appropriate college dean to present at the college’s award’s day.

COMPUTER SCIENCE	Dr. Khosrow Kaikhah 245-3409 MCS 560	A bachelor’s degree is required. A departmental application form must be completed. A 2.75 GPA is required. TOEFL of 550 paper or 213 computer-based for international students is required.
CORPORATE COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING	Dr. Mary Hoffman 245-2165 CENT 205	A bachelor’s degree is required. A 2.75 GPA is required.
DIETETIC INTERNSHIP	Dr. B.J. Friedman 245-2155 FCS 104	A bachelor’s degree is required. Department collects application, fee, and official transcripts. Refer to http://www.fcs.txstate.edu/dietetic_internship/di.htm for application instructions.

HEALTHCARE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT	Dr. Michael Nowicki 245-3556 HP 250	2.5 GPA on last 60 hours. If graduate work is included in the GPA, a minimum 3.0 GPA is required.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE	Dr. Nico Schuler 245-2651 MUS 101	An audition is required by the department. International Students will need to take Intensive English courses depending on the level of language proficiency.
