Non-Degree Students

DEADLINES


The Graduate College will continue to process applications received after the deadline.  Applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with no guarantees for admission for those who apply after the deadline.

Non-Degree Seeking Students are individuals who want to enroll in course work for personal enrichment, background (leveling) requirements, work related, etc., but are not for graduate degree credit.  These courses will appear on the Texas State transcript. You are NOT eligible for financial aid under this status.

Admission as a Non-Degree Seeking Student
Submit an official Application for Admission:

  • Submit only one unless applying for multiple semesters under a different status such as degree seeking or seeking certification/licensure.)
    • You may apply online through the ApplyTexas Application. Please allow 2 working days for the application to be received by Texas State.
  • Submit a $10 non-refundable application fee. A $50.00 (U.S. currency) international/evaluation fee is required if the application is considered for admission based on foreign credentials. Please Note: Students who change their admission status must pay the fee associated with their application status.
  • Complete the Non-Degree Seeking Student Form (required for each semester of enrollment). Non-Degree Seeking Student Form
    • Obtain departmental signatures from the Graduate Advisor or Department Chair for all graduate level course work listed on the form.  You are responsible for making sure that the form has been signed by the appropriate individuals.  If the form does not have the correct signatures, it may be returned to you to obtain the required signatures and your admission will be delayed.
    • Review the Schedule of Classes to make sure that departmental approval is not required and if it is, verify with the department that your student ID has been entered into the registration database as approved to take the course.
  • Non-U.S. Citizens must verify that all admission requirements for international students have been fulfilled - see the Texas State Graduate Catalog for specific requirements.
  • You must submit one official transcript from the college granting your highest degree completed. This transcript must contain the degree statement, which includes the type of degree received and the date it was conferred.  These transcripts must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the Registrar's signature on the back of the envelope.  Please check with the Texas college or university you have attended to determine if they submit electronic transcripts to Texas StateTexas State transcripts will be provided.
  • Should you decide to apply to a graduate degree program, up to six hours of graduate-level courses, with a grade of 'B' or better, may be petitioned for degree credit after regular degree-seeking admission has been granted.
