ADMISSION AS A MASTER'S STUDENT:
Complete an Application for Admission to the Graduate College and return it to the Office of the Graduate College. Submit a non-refundable $40.00 application fee (check or money order in U.S. currency) made payable to Texas State. A $50.00 (U.S. currency) international/evaluation fee is required if the application is considered for admission based on foreign credentials. Please Note: Students who change their admission status must pay the fee associated with their application status. Degree-seeking students changing majors and/or seeking multiple degrees are required to complete a new application and pay the $40 fee.

•  You may apply online through the ApplyTexas Application. Please allow 2 working days for the application to be received by Texas State.
  

TRANSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS:
If you are a Texas State University-San Marcos degree recipient or are currently enrolled, you need to request transcripts from any colleges NOT listed on your Texas State transcript. The Graduate College will provide the Texas State transcripts.

If you are not a Texas State University-San Marcos degree recipient or are not currently enrolled, one official transcript from each senior level post secondary institution attended is required. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the university or college attended or submitted in a sealed university envelope with the university's registrar's signature on the back of the envelope.

REGULAR ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
You must have a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 undergraduate semester hours of letter-grade work earned before receipt of your Bachelor's (plus any previously completed graduate or professional work.)  You must also have the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) prior to admission with a preferred score of 900 (verbal and quantitative combined.)
    Submit Directly to Department:
       1)  Resume
       2)  Statement of Aspiration
       3)  Informed Consent
       4)  Three (3) reference forms (not general reference letters)
       5)  Degree Plan Emphasis Selection

*GRE may be waived if the student has a master's degree from an accredited university.  See Admissions Coordinator to waive the GRE.

In addition to submitting the Graduate College application, the Counseling and Guidance program requires the completion of the Counseling Program Application Packet, which can be accessed online at www.txstate.edu/eaps/professional-counseling-program/Application-Information.html.  Please download and submit the completed materials to the appropriate address listed on the website for your major.  If you are unable to download these materials, please contact the department at (512) 245-2575.
