Application and Application Fee

Please apply online through the ApplyTexas Application and allow 2 working days for the application to be received by Texas State.

The required non-refundable $40.00 application fee can be submitted with credit/debit card information during the application process. If preferred, applicants may submit a non-refundable $40.00 application fee (check or money order in U.S. currency) made payable to Texas State. The mailing address is listed below.

Please Note: Students who change their admission status must pay the fee associated with the new application. Degree-seeking students changing majors and/or seeking multiple degrees are required to complete a new application and pay the $40 fee.

An additional international evaluation fee of $50.00 (U.S. currency) is required if the application is considered for admission based on foreign credentials.

Transcript and Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirement

Applicants who are a Texas State University-San Marcos degree recipient or are currently enrolled at Texas State need to request transcripts for any coursework NOT listed on the Texas State transcript. The Graduate College will provide the Texas State transcripts.

Applicants who are not Texas State University-San Marcos degree recipients or are not currently enrolled at Texas State must submit one official transcript from each college or university attended. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the university or college attended or submitted in a sealed university envelope with the university registrar's signature on the back of the envelope.

All applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited university.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Requirement

The Business Administration Program requires an official Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score to be submitted prior to admission consideration. A competitive GMAT score is preferred. The Admissions Committee will be looking for applicants with strong academic performance throughout their undergraduate experience and competitive scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Requirement

All international applicants (non-U.S. citizens) must fulfill the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) requirement as identified in the “Admission Documents” section of the graduate catalog. Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing English is expected of all accepted students.

Additional Application Requirements

Admission to all graduate business degree programs is competitive and designed to identify those applicants who have the ability, interest, and maturity to manage the rigors of the programs as well as potential for future professional growth. The Admissions Committee will carefully consider all aspects of an applicant’s professional and academic background. Also very important to the Admissions Committee are qualitative elements such as letters of recommendation, quality of written essays, relevant work experience, extracurricular and community activities, honors and achievements, and other personal characteristics that will enhance diversity in academic programs.

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from persons best able to assess the applicant's ability to succeed in graduate school using the standard McCoy College recommendation form
  • Responses to two specific essay questions for the term for which the student is applying - Spring, Fall
  • Detailed resume showing work experience, extracurricular and community activities, and honors and achievements
  • Letter providing additional information that was not required that the applicant would like the admissions committee to consider in its deliberation. (optional)
